The first-grade students at Pierceton Elementary have been using pumpkins during their interactive writing lessons. The students read two to three stories about pumpkins. Next they wrote about how the pumpkin goes from seed to pumpkin. They also wrote how to carve a pumpkin as they carved a pumpkin in class. Pictured are the students in Kathy Wright’s interactive writing group. Kyra Hall and Chase Hurley are pulling the pulp from the pumpkin. They ended the week with a visit to the Fantasy Farm in Ligonier to see a pumpkin farm up close.
