Pierceton OKs Street Work Bid

Posted
PIERCETON - Pierceton Town Council approved a $42,000 bid for work on Key Street Tuesday.

Street Department Superintendent Chip Hill said the work will include curbs and sidewalks. Hill said a timetable has not yet been set for the project, but the bid from Phend and Brown Inc., a Milford-based contractor, guarantees the company will honor the bid price even if they don't start until next year.Once begun, Hill estimated, the project will probably take about a week to complete.

In other news, the council expressed appreciation for those involved in the Day of Caring projects in Pierceton. Day of Caring was Aug. 27. Projects in Pierceton included painting, cleanup, furnace installation, minor improvement construction and tree removal at several area homes.

"The turnout of workers was absolutely phenomenal," said council member Jerry Hartman, "and these people showed up to work."

Council President Jerry Kreger said he was also impressed.

"It was phenomenal to see that amount of work done in that short of a time," said Kreger.
