PIERCETON - Officer Terry Cahill has resigned his positon as of today, according to a statement read by town council president Jerry Kreger.
Cahill was suspended without pay Aug. 24. At that time the council men decided to hold a public disciplainary hearing which was set for today after an initial rescheduling.
Details of the severance package were not revealed.
Cahill was hired in December 2002 after serving the town as a reserve officer for a year. At that time George Alexandar was town marshal. Tim Sammons was named marshal following Alexandar's resignation in June 2003.
The suspension entitled Cahill to health insurance coverage during the period of suspension.
