A 59-year-old Pierceton man is dead after the semi-truck he was driving was involved in a fiery seven-car collision near Dayton, Ohio.
Michael Ray Moore, 59, of Pierceton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a report published on whiotv.com, the accident occurred just before 10 p.m. Thursday in a construction zone along the southbound lanes of I-75 near Ohio 571 in Tipp City, Ohio.
A driver of a commercial semi was unable to stop in slow traffic, impacted a passenger vehicle, and then impacted another commercial vehicle. The second commercial vehicle was then pushed into a third semi, which struck three more passenger vehicles stopped in front of it.
A second commercial driver, an Ontario man, also was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Reports state that the impact of the collision caused two semis to erupt in flames, the fire stretching several hundred feet north from the crash scene.
The flames were extinguished by fire departments from two counties.
Moore’s obituary is on page 3A of today’s newspaper.
