A Pierceton man who allegedly was intoxicated while involved in an accident and fled the scene was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail early Tuesday morning.
Timothy Flynn Johnson, 59, was booked into the jail at 2:19 a.m. Tuesday for driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. His bond was set at $550.
According to a report from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Johnson was driving near the intersection of CR 200S and County Farm Road, Warsaw, around 11:09 p.m. Monday night. Johnson reportedly lost control of his vehicle, hitting a vehicle, home and outbuilding at 397 W. CR 200S, owned by Michael Wagley.
After hitting Wagley's silver 1998 Plymouth parked in the driveway, Johnson's black 2008 Dodge Avenger hit Wagley's house and outbuilding.
Wagley told police he saw a man exit the rear passenger side door of the black Dodge and then walked away from the property.
When police arrived, they were unable to find Johnson, so K-9 units were called to the scene.
The dog tracked Johnson's scent east of the residence, down a property line, through a thick brush area to an open field, where Johnson reportedly was laying in an open area.
Johnson allegedly refused to obey officers' commands to show his hands, and resisted when they tried to put handcuff on him.
After he was handcuffed, officers asked Johnson if he had been drinking, and Johnson reportedly replied that he had.
Johnson told officers he was diabetic, and an ambulance was called to the scene to check him.
While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, Johnson was put in the front passenger seat of State Trooper Andrew Cochran's police vehicle, and Johnson reportedly vomited all over the interior of the car.
Johnson was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital and Cochran obtained a search warrant for a legal blood draw to test Johnson's blood alcohol level.
The incident remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police and the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
