Pierceton Man Facing Battery Charges From 2 Separate CasesA Pierceton man is facing battery charges in two separate cases after allegedly punching people in the face.

Michael Jay Poe, 35, of 3104 E. Wooster Road, lot 59, Pierceton, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 12:24 a.m. March 1.

In the first case, he is facing charges for domestic battery causing moderate bodily injury and intimidation, both Level 6 felonies; and Class A misdemeanor charges for domestic battery and resisting law enforcement.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Friday in Superior Court I, at 12:50 a.m. Feb. 25 a woman called police and said Poe had battered another man and they both left in a yellow Chevrolet Corvette.

Police quickly located the vehicle at an area gas station, according to court papers, and identified the driver as the victim who had extreme injuries to his face.

Police called an ambulance to the gas station to treat the victim for injuries, including heavy swelling on both eyes with one eye being nearly shut and dried blood on his face and clothing. The victim refused to tell police how he got the injuries, according to the affidavit, and said he fell down.

When Poe exited the gas station, according to the affidavit, police ordered him to not enter the vehicle but he attempted to anyway and a struggle ensued.

When police spoke to the woman who called authorities, she allegedly said that earlier in the day she, the victim and Poe were in the living room of a house and Poe got mad and then punched the man in the face. Poe then is alleged to have told her to leave otherwise he’d hurt her, too, so she left.

When the woman returned to the residence later, according to court papers, she saw the extent of the man’s injuries and decided to call police.

Three days later, on Feb. 28, police were dispatched to a home where they spoke with a woman who said she and her husband were asleep and Poe entered the room and struck her in the face multiple times with a closed fist.

The woman told police that while Poe was hitting her, he was demanding back an aerosol can she had hid from him earlier because he was huffing the contents to intoxicate himself, according to the affidavit.

According to court records, Poe was convicted of domestic battery in Kosciusko County in 2018.

His bond was set at $6,000, and no-contact orders were issued.
