A field fire occurred at 4 p.m. Monday at 377 E. CR 500S, Pierceton. The homeowner was burning leaves that got out of control due to windy conditions, according to Nathan Rhoades, Pierceton Fire Department captain. It took fire crews from Pierceton, Sidney and Winona Lake an hour to put out the fire that burnt four to five acres of land.
