Editor, Times-Union: This letter is directed to the residents of Pierceton. Next Tuesday we have the opportunity to vote for members of the town council. Many people have paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we may have that privilege and we should exercise that right.
I have been honored to have been a member of the town council for the last 16 years. In that time the town has received over $2.1 million in grants; $400,000 for a senior center; $500,000 for the sewer treatment plant; $600,000 for home owner occupied rehabilitation; and $600,000 for our current project at the water plant.
I have also had the privilege of watching several groups that have given back to the community. These include, but are not limited to, the Lions Club, the Pierceton Fire Dept., the Pierceton Youth League, the Chamber of Commerce and our churches. There are many individuals that have given back to our town, and three come to mind: Kim Rose, Bob Tenney and Chip Hill. Their love, vision and commitment is a joy to watch and should be an inspiration to us all.
When you go to the polls on Tuesday, select candidates that have that same love of our town. Watch out for candidates that have a personal agenda. Our town deserves the best.
