Pierceton Elementary School held its annual Bully Buster Rally Sept. 28. This rally is part of PES's continuing effort to have a bully-free school. Students learned the definition of bullying. It has three main aspects - it is purposeful, there is an imbalance of power (social, size-wise or in some other manner) and it is continuing. Students learned what they can expect staff members to do when they report bullying. They also learned what to do if they are either a victim of bullying or a by-stander who witnesses bullying. Several skits were given during the rally to help emphasize important points. The PES School Pledge was recited (as it is each Monday), in which students pledge not to bully others, to help others who are being bullied, and to report any bullying they know about or see. Staff members also recited their pledge to deal with bullying that is reported to them.
