PIERCETON - Break-ins to at least three structures in the Pierceton area are under investigation by police.
An employee of the Community Church of the Brethren, Pierceton Road and CR 500E, discovered a break-in there after stopping to turn off a basement light that was apparently left on.
The call came in at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday and it was determined that entry was made through a basement door, where a jamb was splintered and broken. A screen was also ripped from its frame.
Once inside, the suspect(s) took a videocassette rewinder, a 19-inch color television set, a VCR and a portable stereo. The items are valued at $660.
Damage to the church property is estimated at $200.
A burglary at Gateway Cafe, Ind. 13S, Pierceton, was discovered at 4:39 a.m. Thursday, with entry gained in an unknown manner.
A cash register was destroyed and the money removed from it. A pager was also known to be missing.
Another break-in, at R&R Body Shop, West Catholic Street, Pierceton, was reported at 5:26 a.m. Thursday. No information was available on that incident.
Anyone with information on any of these break-ins should call Detective Sgt. Tom Brindle at the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, 267-5667, or Crime Stoppers at 800-342-STOP.
