Pie-Eyed Petey's Opens Syracuse Location

SYRACUSE – After success with Pie-Eyed Petey’s on Tippecanoe Lake, Roy and Barb Hamer decided to open up another location in Syracuse.

Taking over what was formerly Lil’s Anchor Bar, 101 W. Main St., Syracuse,  they opened Pie-Eyed Petey’s North July 5.

Sam Hyden, kitchen manager, said the new location offers the same menu and family-friendly atmosphere that the original location offers.

There is both a family room and a bar located in the resturant.

“It’s been going very well,” said Hyden. “(The new location) is still Key West flavor with Midwest values.”

“The people that come in here, the clientele we have, that’s what we cater to,” said Hyden.

Hyden said it is somewhere that anyone can come in and feel welcome.

“You’re not going to come in here and have loud music blaring in your ear,” said Hyden.

That’s not to say you can’t find live entertainment there.

Tonight, live music with The Jay Taylors will play. They are a two-piece band that plays hit songs.

Hyden said with its close location to the Pickwick Theatre, nights when a movie is showing brings in crowds.

That sort of neighborhood atmosphere is something the new Pie-Eyed Petey’s is striving for.

With a downtown location, within walking distance of other bars and restaurants, the new restaurant already has created a decidedly Syracuse flavor.

“We are pro-Wawasee,” said Hyden with a laugh. “Though it’s funny our first location is right on that line between Warsaw and Wawasee schools.”

Every Friday night, whether Wawasee has a game in town or not, Pie-Eyed Petey’s North runs the Warrior Special, which is a two-topping pizza for $14.99.

Hyden, and his staff of 20, are open every day, except Sunday, at 11 a.m. and open until at least 10 p.m.

“It all depends,” said Hyden. “If people are in here and having a good time we’ll stay open later.”
