ROCHESTER – Phyllis Jean Howard, 79, Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she died at her home at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 4, 2016, fighting a battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 26, 1937, in Akron, to Carl and Helen Woolley Swanson. On July 1, 1955, she married Paul Howard, who survives. A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Mill Creek Missionary Church, 1336 N. Ind. 25, Rochester, with Pastor Chris Beal officiating. Interment will be in the Athens Hoover Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and an hour prior to the service Saturday in the church.
