SYRACUSE – Phyllis J. Day, 76, of Syracuse, died at 8:25 p.m. Oct. 30, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.

She was born Oct. 4, 1935, in Rowley, Iowa, to Charles and Mildred  Basquin Grover. On March 19, 1961, in Clutier, Iowa, she married Richard I. Day, who survives in Syracuse.

She graduated from Clutier High School in 1954 and Prairie Bible Institute, Three Hills, Alberta Canada, in 1958. She was a homemaker and moved to the Syracuse area from Iowa in 1971. She was a member of Grace Bible Baptist Church, New Paris.

Also surviving are two daughters, Beth (and spouse Scott) Clements, Goshen, and Eunice (and spouse  Robert) Snyder, Lewistown, Mont.; two sons, Paul Day, Michigan City, and Phillip Day, Syracuse; nine grandchildren; a sister, Ellen (and spouse Sam) Young, Traer, Iowa; and a brother, Tom (and spouse Joan) Grover, Belleville, Kan. She was preceded in death by a grandson and two sisters.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with the Rev. Jon Dicken officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
