Phyllis Irene Rowland, 93, passed away at 10:58 p.m. Jan. 22, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She was born May 26, 1922, in Claypool, to Tony and Opal Rodocker Hoover. On May 19, 1941, in Claypool, she married Emery Franklin Rowland, who preceded her in death Aug. 28, 2010.
She is a 1940 graduate of Claypool High School and a lifetime Claypool area resident.
She was a homemaker and a helpmate to her husband on their Claypool farm.
She was a member of Claypool United Methodist Church for over 60 years, taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis (and spouse Pam) and Roger (and spouse Sandy) Rowland, all of Claypool; a daughter, Avis Wilkinson, Goshen; seven grandchildren: Brian Wilkinson, Syracuse; Travis (and spouse Jenny) Rowland and Amy Slone, all of Claypool; Missy (and spouse Vince) Wynn and Tina (and spouse Scott) Maurer, all of Goshen; Darren (and spouse Karena) Wilkinson, Milford; Greg (and spouse Kassi) Rowland, Clunette; and 18 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a sister, E. Maxine Marks, who died April 22, 1988; and a son-in-law, Carl E. “Hub” Wilkinson, who died May 10, 2011.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Mike Settles, Claypool United Methodist Church, officiating, Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
Calling is from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
