Phyllis Irene Carter, 92, Warsaw, passed away at 4 a.m. Feb. 21, 2015, in Miller’s Merry Manor Assisted Living, Warsaw. She was born March 15, 1922, in Warsaw, to Cecil and Anna Blanche Ring Lindzy. In 1960, in Brownsville, Texas, she married Henry A. Carter, who preceded her in death. Born and raised in Warsaw, she traveled with her husband while he served in the military as an U.S. Air Force master sergeant. She settled in Fairborn, Ohio, in 1968. She was a housewife and a mother of four children. She attended the First Baptist Church, Warsaw, and she enjoyed crafts, gardening and flowers. Surviving are three daughters: Beverly Ann Hay and Carol Mae (and spouse Ron) Wood, all of Warsaw; Phyllis (and spouse Dennis) Rash, Bluffton; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her son, Larry Joe Newby; and five brothers: Zeldon, Lamoin and Ezra Lipply; Cecil Jr. and Milo Eugene Lindzy. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Bob Jarboe officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
