BOURBON – Phyllis E. Kuhn, 84, of Bourbon, passed away Jan. 31, 2013, in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth, in the care of her family. She was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Bourbon, to Lowell M. and Erma M. Schroeter Berkey. On Aug. 21, 1949, she married Luther Kuhn, with whom she had shared more than 62 years of marriage until his passing on Jan. 14, 2012. A lifetime resident of Bourbon, she graduated from Bourbon High School in 1946 and was a faithful member of Bourbon First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Go and Grow Circle. She was a homemaker; co-owned Kuhn’s Sonoco gas station in Bourbon; worked at Bourbon High School as a secretary for E.P. Smith; and later as a custodian for the Triton School Corporation. Surviving are a daughter, Brenda (and spouse Steve) Brink, Nappanee; two sons, Dennis (and spouse Tammy) Kuhn, Bourbon, and Larry (and spouse Honey) Kuhn, Mentone; 10 grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Prater; two sisters, Eva Berkey and Betty Whittaker; and two brothers, James Berkey and the Rev. Robert Berkey. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bourbon First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry of Bourbon First United Methodist Church and Bridgett Smith of Hospice. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon. Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S.
