Phillip Goodman

Posted

Phillip Goodman, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in the care of Warsaw Meadows Care Center at the age of 75.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1950, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Daniel and Hazel Collins Goodman. Following the family’s move to Pierceton, Phillip attended Pierceton High School. As a youth, he had an uncanny ability to predict future inventions that would one day come true – like when he promised them that one day someone would invent a car that could drive itself. Phillip developed into an excellent welder and used this skill in his work throughout his life. As true lover of the outdoors, he began his early adult years traversing and exploring all over southern Indiana.
Phillip was a woodsman in the purist sense and spent many years living in a tent out in the woods. Even when he would visit family, he would bring his tent along and camp out in their yard. Another of his favorite things to do was traveling around the country panhandling, which led him to Colorado to sightsee and enjoy the amazing scenery.
Although he didn’t have much, Phillip was prone to gladly share anything he had with anyone he met, whether he knew them or not. He was always finding inventive ways to survive and was able to find items to sell and knew all the places to find a free meal. He had a truly colorful life and would often recount fantastic tales and stories that were from his real-life experiences. A friend to everyone he met, in his last year Phillip especially left his mark at Warsaw Meadows Care Center where he affably bantered with the staff who greatly appreciated his outgoing manner.
Phillip is survived by many family members and will be lovingly missed by those closest to him. He leaves behind his sons, Jeremy (Barbara) Goodman, Warsaw; Phillip Goodman; his stepson, John Goodman; his grandchildren, Kaylee-Ann and Raelyn Goodman; his brothers, Chester (Janet) Goodman, Pierceton; Daniel Goodman, Knox, Pa.; and his three sisters: Mara Helblig, Silver Lake; Virginia Morris, Warsaw; Molly (Don) Gilbert, North Manchester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Hazel Goodman; his wife, Thiry Renee’; his son, Joshua Goodman; and his brother, Warren Goodman.
Phillip’s life will be celebrated with a service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Hedgel Perry. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
Memorial donations may be directed to Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, 1048 325 E, Pierceton, IN 46562.
