Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
Autumn is the season of change.
Thursday, four petitioners before the Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Commission sought changes for their alcohol sales permits.
Roger Clemens, president of Time Out Inn, Warsaw, petitioned to transfer stock of the Inn to other stockholders. Time Out's last violation was in August for minor loitering, according to excise officer Tim Cleveland. While the minor had been drinking, it has not been determined if the individual had been served at the Time Out.
Clemens told the ABC, "We've had a handful of violations over the last 29 years and we try to (prevent them)."
Excise officer Heather Cleveland offered some advice to Clemens on preventing minors from loitering and drinking. She said they should hire more employees. The ABC also offers alcohol server training sessions for free.
"As far as the ABC is concerned, there's zero tolerance for minors," Tim Cleveland said. He said if the violations continue and the local board doesn't address them, the state alcoholic beverage board will.
The transfer of stock was approved. Also approved for the Time Out Inn were retailer renewal permits for Sunday sales and beer, wine and liquor sales.
Philip Fozo petitioned the ABC for a transfer of ownership of retailer permits for Sunday sales and beer, wine and liquor sales for The Barbee Landing, Warsaw. Fozo also owns the Barbee Hotel. The business has no violations or citations. The petition was approved.
Other non-renewal petitions approved include:
• Transfer of location for a beer, wine and liquor dealer permit for Leesburg Liquors, Leesburg. The business is still operating on VanBuren Street but will move to a new location in Leesburg soon. The permit will transfer locations once Leesburg Liquors has moved.
• Gilliam Lanes, Warsaw, was approved for a beer, wine and liquor retailer permit. They had only a beer retailer permit previously. Their retailer beer permit was renewed.
