Fifth-graders at Pierceton Elementary School took their knowledge of a cell's contents and used it to create an edible model of a real cell. Students used direction-following skills to create four circular cakes. They then used icing and many different kinds of candy to create the inner workings of an animal cell. The students helped decide what pieces of candy resembled each part and they placed them accordingly. When finished, students had no problems eating a piece of their 'cell' and were vocal about how good cells taste.
