Peru Wins Foul-Fest

NORTH MANCHESTER -ÊPeru's boys basketball team ran past Manchester 90-80 in Friday's foul-laden game that saw Manchester coach Gary Goshert get thrown out.

Peru, ranked No. 10 in class 3A, improved to 10-1. Manchester fell to 6-6.

Eight players fouled out in the game, including five from Manchester. The Squires' David Bazzoni, Anthony Frieden, Lee Shafer, Chris Lochner and Klay Bechtold all fouled out. Fifty-four total fouls were called in the game, 27 on each team.

Goshert got tossed in the third quarter on a play where the ball went out of bounds and no foul was called, resulting in a Manchester turnover. Goshert protested to the officials to no avail, then walked several feet onto the court. The referees gave him a technical foul, and after he said something again, they threw him out of the game.
