SYRACUSE – Perry L. Morton, 63, of Warsaw, died unexpectedly at 6:45 p.m. Jan. 6, 2012, in his residence.
He was born Feb. 12, 1945, in Marion, to Sherrill and Delores Carlene Miles Morton. On Sept. 1, 2005, he married Brenda Snyder, who survives.
He graduated from Leesburg High School in 1966 and received a degree in business from Purdue University.
In 1966, he began an apprenticeship as a roll tender at R.R. Donnelley & Sons. In the ’70s he entered into the insurance business and began working at Farm Bureau, Fort Wayne. He later opened his own agency, Perry Morton & Associates, and has run it successfully since 1978.
He was an avid sport fan. NASCAR was a sport he loved. Bench Rest rifle shooting was his passion. He held several national titles in the sport and at 32 he was the youngest member to be inducted into the National Bench Rest Association Hall of Fame. Hunting big game in Wyoming and Alaska was his favorite thing to do. He was passionate in wild life preservation. He was also a member of American Legion Post 253, Moose Lodge and Ducks Unlimited.
He had a vest for life and lived his life to the fullest. He worked hard and played harder. He was a kind and generous man and will always be remembers and loved by many.
Also surviving are two children, Sherri and Kerry Morton; two stepsons, David and Jason Rivich; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth and Marc Brumblow and Devan Morton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 22 at the American Legion Post 253, North Webster. The family asks you bring happy memories, stories to share and photos to the celebration.
