OSCEOLA - Perry Day Jr, 82, of Syracuse, died at 9:28 a.m. July 28, 2007, in Goshen General Hospital, of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Jan. 1, 1925, to Perry and Mamie Day. On April 10, 1945, in South Bend, he married Ruth A. Zalten, who died Aug. 31, 2000.
He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, honorably discharged in 1945. He retired from the City of South Bend-Waterworks on Oct. 31, 1989, where he was the assistant superintendent. After retirement he moved to Dewart Lake in Syracuse.
Surviving are a son, Terry A. Day, Mishawaka; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jack Day, Winamac. He was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
