PIERCETON - Within 60 days, the brick pile formerly known as the Perry Building will be a memory.
Monday night Bob Murphy of R.P. Murphy and Associates, Larwill, presented town council members Jerry Kreger, Terry Hill and Ron Hall with several resolutions authorizing funds for cleanup, tank removal and soil testing at the site.
The board approved a resolution authorizing a brownsfield loan of $50,000 through the Indiana Development Finance Authority with a nine-year term. Payment will come from Tax Increment Financing funds and utility revenues beginning July 1 at a cost of $55,800.
Preferred Environmental Services was awarded the bid for asbestos removal at a cost of $340 per day with work not to exceed three days. There were three other bidders.
Ransbarger Construction was given the contract for demolition and cleanup at a cost of $36,000. There were four other bidders.
The board tabled a proposal to provide tank removal and soil testing because the amount given was not firm.
Lee Newswanger approached the board about filling in a low spot in the alley between Third and Fourth streets. His request was approved.
A representative of Hide-Away RV approached the board regarding access to Arnold Street.
Leonard Nielsen told the board his company has purchased two parcels west of town limits and intends to be open for business "before the snow flies."
