On Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, the Warsaw community had the opportunity to attend a professional production of the musical "Junie B. Jones", held at the Warsaw Community High School performing arts center. The performance was a SELL OUT! To top off the performance, Kosciusko Literacy Services provided a "Junie B. Jones" book for every ticket purchased.

We would like to thank all the patrons who attended the performance and brought their children. Not only did we sell out the evening production (974 seats) but we were able to have all Warsaw Community Schools students in grades 2 and 3 (1,117 students) attend a performance with their classmates during the day.

We would like to publicly thank Zimmer for their co-sponsorship of this event and their support of past productions. Zimmer also co-sponsored another production this year by Theaterworks USA back in October called "If You Give a Pig a Pancake and Other Stories", where all the WCS kindergarten and first-grade students attended.

Feb. 18, 2010, we will be hosting "Mad Science presents CSI: LIVE!", an exciting, interactive journey through the fascinating world of crime scene investigations. Audience "recruits" will jump up on stage to become part of the action; analyzing mysterious gasses, launching experimental projectiles and firing lasers across the scene of the crime. Together they will use their superior logic and forensic know-how to uncover hidden details, investigate the evidence and solve the crime.

The mission of the Warsaw Performing Arts Center (WPAC) is to serve as a venue for artistic expression for Warsaw Community Schools' students and to compliment existing programs and presentations in the community. The WPAC will offer quality performances and educational activities for the enjoyment and enlightenment of its public.

The goals of the Warsaw Performing Arts Center (WPAC) are:

- To promote the PAC as an attractive, usable facility for school and community (call for rental fees and available dates);

- To provide performing arts related educational and programming opportunities through collaborative efforts;

- To develop and foster growth of community arts groups through community theater presentations and countywide student shows by providing the venue and state-of-the-art equipment;

- To bring to our students the artistic talents of notable amateur and professional performing groups, lecturers, speakers, and a wide variety of educational presentations;

- To attract national and international artists in the performing arts.

- To provide educational opportunities for WCS students when considering/booking additional artists and groups (workshops, seminars, exhibitions, etc.);

- To further arts education and encourage interest in the performing arts;

- To provide a place for students to get hands-on experiences and career preparation in the areas of performing arts.

If your group or business would like to contribute to sponsoring an event at the WPAC for the 2010-2011 season, please contact Jennifer Shepherd at 574-371-5099. We can discuss the various artists and shows that are being booked for next year and how you can become involved. We have plenty of quality high school productions, one goal is to bring professional artists to the community to share their talents on stage and in the classroom when available.

If you have not been to a show in the performing arts center, please consider joining us this spring for "Mad Science presents CSI: LIVE!" on Feb. 18, 2010, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Call the WPAC today for more information at 574-371-5040. Google the Grammy Award-winning a cappella group Tonic Sol Fa, scheduled to perform here Sept. 9, 2010.
