PEO Chapter EJ announced the award of continuing education grants to Mona Hemmer and Shannon Baxter.
Both recipients are pursuing a degree in nursing, and currently are working at Kosciusko Community Hospital. Each will finish their degree in May.The PEO Sisterhood, founded Jan. 21, 1869, at Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is a philanthropic and educational organization interested in bringing to women increased opportunities for higher education. There are approximately 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada with more than 250,000 active members. Chapter EJ was organized Oct. 31, 1998.
The Program for Continuing Education was established in 1973 to provide need-based grants to women in the United States and Canada whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to support themselves and/or their families.
Applicants are recommended and sponsored by PEO chapters.
