NORTH MANCHESTER – Penny Kay Schutz, 53, of North Manchester, died at 8:30 p.m. March 13, 2013, in her residence. She was born Dec. 31, 1959, in Fort Wayne, to Harry T. and Barbara L. Westafer Mort. On July 1, 1978, in North Manchester, she married Mitchell D. Schutz, who survives. She was involved in Tri Kappa Sorority since high school and attended First Brethren Church. A devoted and loving mother, wife and friend, she always put others ahead of herself. Whatever was important to her family, she happily became an expert in the field, offering guidance and support. She emanated strength, and everything that she had a hand in was more beautiful because of her. Also surviving are a daughter, Brogan Doran Schutz (and spouse Douglas Hayden), South Bend; her mother, Barbara L. Mort, Chesterton; and a brother, Greg (and spouse Sandy) Mort, Raleigh, N.C. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Kathy Flory. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester.
