Peggy Jane Heldreth

Peggy Jane Heldreth, 59, of Mentone, passed away at 11:25 a.m.  May 6, 2012, in her residence.

She was born May 1, 1953, in San Francisco, Calif., to Herb and Peggy Washburn Jensen. On March 22, 1989, in Tempe, Ariz., she married Mark Heldreth, who survives.

She lived in various places including Vandenberg Air Force base, California; Japan; Aurora, Colo.; Sembach Air Force base, Germany; Minot Air Force Base, N.D.; Homer, Neb., from 1969-85; Tempe/Chandler, Ariz., from 1985-89; and Mentone from 1989-2012. She graduated from Wayne State College, Nebraska, in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and Arizona State University in 1987 with a master’s degree in elementary education.  She taught elementary school in Hinton, Iowa, from 1975-84; Gilbert, Ariz., from 1985-89; and Alethia Academy from 1997-2012. A member of First Baptist Church, Mentone, he was a Sunday school teacher for the elementary class, Awana leader, a nursery volunteer and taught in the vacation Bible school.

Also surviving are three children, John, James and Sarah Heldreth, all of Mentone; two sisters, Jan (and spouse Gary) Brock, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Karen Portz, Mentone.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Pastor Michael Wilhite officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
