Peggy Heckaman, 76, of Leesburg, died at 8:56 p.m. May 4, 2009, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born Jan. 10, 1933, in Leesburg, to Harrison and Hazel Knisley Main. In 1951, in Longbeach, Calif., she married LeVon Heckaman, who survives in Leesburg.
A lifetime Leesburg resident, she was a foster parent. She was a member of United Brethren Church, Leesburg, and Warsaw Moose Lodge and a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary, North Webster.
She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two daughters, Susan (and spouse Larry) Richey, Leesburg, and Linda (and spouse Stan) Waumans, Louisville, Ky.; a son, Robert Heckaman, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Doreen Rosbrogh and Mayedene Lehman, both of Pierceton; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and a sister.
Services were at 1 p.m. today at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Jesse Beer officiating. Burial was in Leesburg Cemetery.
