The 22-year-old Warsaw man who was struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning died last night in Lutheran Hospital as a result of his injuries. Emergency personnel responded around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to the 911 call stating a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on CR 150W just north of CR 300N in Warsaw. Officers found Michael C. Keener, 22, Warsaw, lying in the roadway with severe injuries. Keener was immediately transported by Multi-Township EMS to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he died Wednesday night. Fatal Alcohol Crash Team investigators stated that Keener had been walking southbound on CR 150W when a vehicle, driven by Darrell E. Young, 46, Warsaw, approached traveling southbound. Young told police he didn’t see Keener until the last minute because Keener was wearing dark clothing. Young also said it appeared Keener was crossing the roadway as Young attempted to swerve. After striking Keener, Young’s vehicle continued across CR 150W and struck a utility pole on the east side of the roadway. Young was not injured in the accident. Keener’s cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma. His death was ruled accidental. The incident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
