Ofelia Rios and Maria Medina have organized their fourth Black Lives Matter protest to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday on the courthouse lawn in Warsaw.
Rios said this event will be to hear more stories from people and to also provide an update to the public about what work Rios and Medina have accomplished behind the scenes.
“We want to share with the community what we’ve been doing behind the scenes with the mayor and fill everybody in on what these protests are actually getting accomplished,” Rios said.
She said next week, they’re sitting down with Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer on Friday and will be taking him information on what the women would like to do for the community.
“Specifically for our people of color and our black people here in the community,” Rios said.
The organizers stress these demonstrations are for peaceful protesters only.
