NORTH MANCHESTER – “One hundred years of Broadway” will be presented once again by the Peabody Entertainers Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. as their encore performance.
The show is in the Peabody Chapel, 400 W. 7th St., North Manchester, and is free to the public.
A little more than 100 years ago, the American Theater opened for business on the 42nd Street in the heart of Manhattan. It was to be the first of many theaters in that part of town - the area which became known around the world as “Broadway”.
From the music of Tin Pan Alley to state-of-the-art-contemporary Broadway, the Peabody Entertainers celebrate the history of Broadway and America’s great heritage of musical theater with a musical revue of songs from many Broadway shows.
The Peabody Entertainers consists of residents, employees and friends of Peabody Retirement Community.  Directed by Carol Davis, a long-time resident of Peabody,  the entertainers include Rev. Sue Babovec, Phyllis Barger, Sam Barrett, Madelyn Bechtold, Christine Beery, Rosemary Bolinger, Carolyn Fedewa, Kathryn Huntington, Bea Knarr, Esther Malott, Nancy Nesbit, Miriam Rusher, Donna Williams, Stan Williams, with Narrators, Joyce Adkins and Wanda Woodward, with accompanist Lois Dickinson.
