Pauline “Paula” K. Smith, 84, Warsaw, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Dec. 17, 2013, at her residence. She was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Muehltal, West Germany, to George and Clara Elizabeth Battig Goeckel I. On Oct. 3, 1948, in Zanesville, she married Albert G. Smith, who died Jan. 3, 2009. She moved to Columbia City from West Germany in 1948, and then moved to Warsaw 26 years ago. She attended business school in 1947. She was a housewife and was a member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, Warsaw. Surviving are a son, Leslie B. (and spouse Yong) Smith, Texas; a grandson, Jason (and spouse Tricia) Smith, Platte City, Mo.; a sister, Elizabeth (and spouse George) Leissler, Muehltal, Germany; and a son-in-law, Harold Galloway, North Webster. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Colleen K. Galloway, and her parents. Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, Warsaw, with Pastors Steve Ailes and Jim MacDonald officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
