WAKARUSA - Pauline L. Stahly, 93, of Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, died at 6:20 p.m. March 2, 2011. She was in failing health for the past three weeks.
She was born July 31, 1917, in Wakarusa, to C.S. and Golda Wenger Weldy.
She was a 1934 graduate of Wakarusa High School. On June 24, 1939, in Wakarusa, she married H. LaMar Stahly, who preceded her in death.
A lifetime area resident, she had a cabin at Lake Wawasee and was a winter resident of Sarasota, Fla. She was a ward secretary and aide at Elkhart General Hospital for more than 20 years. She was a charter member of the Waka Domestic Home Economics Club for more than 50 years. She was a member of Holdeman Mennonite Church, Wakarusa, and she acted in their "Women at the Well" play as Salome (Zedebee's wife).
Surviving are five sons: Terry (and spouse Corrie) Stahly, Elkhart; Dennis (and spouse Breta) Stahly, Cassopolis, Mich.; Bruce (and spouse Barbara) Stahly, Goshen; Steve (and spouse Deb) Stahly, Syracuse; and Kirby (and spouse Denise) Stahly, Roanoke; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne Weldy. She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hodeman Mennonite Church with the Rev. B.J. Leichty and Danny Jones officiating. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa.
