NORTH MANCHESTER - Pauline Hoover, 92, of Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, died at 3:50 a.m. Dec. 5, 2008, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born Nov. 18, 1916, in North Canton, Ohio, to Samuel and Alice Mishler Holl. On Dec. 24, 1939, she married H. Robert Hoover, who died Feb. 9, 2006.
She was a librarian and taught English at Elmhurst High School, Fort Wayne, from August 1938 to December 1939. She was a homemaker and a bookkeeper at Hoover Farms. She was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren. She graduated from Manchester College in May 1937, majoring in English, business English and library science. In summer 1938, she received teaching licenses for Ohio and Indiana.
Surviving are two sons, Steve (and spouse Elit) Hoover, Roanoke, and John (and spouse Karin) Hoover, Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Mary Ann (and spouse Gary) Frey, North Manchester; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, three half brothers, two half sisters and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Pastor Kurt Borgmann and the Rev. David Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is two hours prior to the service Friday at the Timbercrest.
