Pauline G. Becher, 90, Warsaw, passed away June 15, 2014, in her home.
She was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Dallas, Texas, to Fred and Lillian Schlottman Drees. On Nov. 29, 1942, in Colorado Springs, Colo., she married Murlin F. Becher, who preceded her in death Dec. 22, 2002.
She was a 1941 graduate of Oak Cliff High School, Dallas. After Murlin’s years of military service, they moved to Kosciusko County where she remained for over 60 years, first in Claypool then in Warsaw. She was a proud mother and homemaker who loved her family with all of her heart. Throughout her long life, she enjoyed many hobbies including reading, baking (from famous sweet rolls to cookies of every kind), entertaining guests, sewing, golfing (even getting a hole in one!) and traveling (including trips to Colorado, Canada, Mexico, and even accompanying her granddaughter and grandson-in-law on their honeymoon trip across the country). As a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, she spent most of her life sharing her talents with a community she loved very much. Most of all, though, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was incredibly proud of each member of her growing family, both young and old, and she delighted in sharing this with people she would meet. She was fiercely loyal with a kind, loving heart. She had an adventurous spirit that never faded and a smile that could light up a room. She loved to laugh and had a fantastic sense of humor. She touched countless lives and in addition to her family, she will be missed by so many.
Left with hearts full of memories to treasure are three daughters, Linda F. Becher, Elgin, Canada; Kathy (and spouse Richard) Williamson, Kansas City, Mo., and Patty (and spouse Mark) Smith, Pierceton; five grandchildren: Shawn (and spouse Stacy) Williamson, Lori (and spouse Paul) Chase, Todd (and spouse Jeannette) Williamson, Katie (Jake) Jacquay and April Williamson (and Chris Moon); six great-grandchildren: Makayla, Ana, Aftyn, Maddox, Abigail and Hunter; a sister, Cecilia Anderson, Sulphur Springs, Texas; and her faithful canine companion, Cappi. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Williamson; a great grandson, Jase A. Jacquay; a brother, Fred Drees Jr.; a sister, Helen Harmon; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Anderson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Barnes, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Woodland, Ind.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St. Warsaw, Indiana.
