GALVESTON – Paul William “Bill” Reed, 94, Silver Lake, passed away at 2:27 p.m. May 14, 2014, at Peabody Retirement Center, North Manchester.
He was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Lancaster, Ohio, to William O. and Della Strawn Reed. On July 21, 1940, in Burlington, Ky., he was married to Margaret Edith Kerlin, who preceded him in death Sept. 10, 2009.
He served his country in the Army in World War II. Bill worked for the Indiana Glass Factory in Dunkirk, Delco, and was an associate professor at Vincennes University, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion Post #418, Walton, for 50 years. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wabash; and Order of the Easter Star Chapter #230, Redkey. He was a member of Onward (Ind.) Christian Church.
Surviving are four daughters: Janet (and spouse Jeff) Bowyer and Rita (and spouse Pat) McLochlin, all of Logansport; Joyce (and spouse Kent) Rose, Galveston; and Terri Bischoff, North Manchester; eight grandchildren: Willie (and spouse Kristy) Hoover, Kim (and spouse Donnie) Feaster, Amanda (and spouse Mike) Whybrew, Mark (and spouse Tina) McLochlin, Robert (and spouse Jenni) Hoover, Janet (and spouse Hank) Berg, Janea (and spouse Tim) Weidner, and Clint Bischoff; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Mary (and spouse Robert) Elwood, Harford City; two sisters, Jennita Shank and Patricia Maves; and two brothers, Robert E. and Richard Reed.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston, with the Rev. Clifton Burton officiating. Burial with graveside military honors will be at Ever Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Logansport.
Calling is from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
