NORTH WEBSTER – Paul Smith, 90, of Leesburg, died at 2:20 a.m. Aug. 25, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.

He was born Jan. 29, 1922, in Hanfield, to Arthur and Margaret  McKenzie Smith. On July 11, 1975, in Pierceton, he married Betty J. McVey Nealis, who survives.

He graduated in 1940 from Van Buren High School. He moved to the Leesburg area from Marion permanently in 1982, after he had summered there for many years. He formerly worked  at Allied Paper, Marion, for several years; managed Handy Andy Food Stores, Marion, for many years; and was a custodian for Leesburg Elementary School for two years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 253, North Webster.

Also surviving are three daughters, Marilyn Bowling, Marion; Donna (and spouse Kevin) Kern, Milford; and Paula (and spouse Kim) Martin, Wabash; a son, Don Smith, Holiday, Fla.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Keller, Fort Wayne. He was preceded by his parents; a sister, Edith Scott; and two brothers, Robert and Ralph Smith.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with Pastor Jeff Boyer officiating. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gardens of Memory Chapel, Marion.

Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
