SYRACUSE – Paul Ray Sliter, 95, of North Webster and formerly of Milford, passed away at 3:35 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse.

He was born on June 10, 1924, in Russellville, Ark., to George and Beulah Pierce Sliter.

He grew up in Arkansas, attended public school in Bradford, Ark., and moved to Indiana in 1955. He was married on Aug. 16, 1969, in Warsaw, to Myrtle L. Hollar Veach, who survives. He retired in 1986 as the owner/operator of Sliter Cleaners & Janitorial Service in Milford after 20 years of service. He was formerly employed at Wayne Trailer Factory in Bourbon for 11 years and Richardson Homes in Elkhart for eight years. He moved to Milford in 1976 and then to North Webster in 2015.

He was a member of the Sanctuary Church in Syracuse.

He is survived by wife, Myrtle Sliter, of Milford; three sons, Kenny Sliter, of Warsaw; Harvey (Julia) Sliter, of Plymouth; and Jim (Pat) Sliter, of Conway, Ark.; two daughters: Marie Sliter, of Culver; and Veada Moon of Hot Springs, Ark.; stepson, Russell (Janet) Veach, of North Manchester; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons: Paul Jr., John and Thomas Sliter; sister, Ethel Sliter; four brothers:  Selmer, Carl, Arthur and Archie Sliter; and stepson, Randy Veach.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28 in the funeral home with Pastor Scott Wirebaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Milford Cemetery.
