AKRON - Paul E. White, 101, of 401 N. Mishawaka St., Akron, died at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 28, 2008, in his residence.

He was born Dec. 23, 1906, in Marion County, to Allen and Anna Christian White. On May 8, 1923, in Noblesville, he married Iris Huber, who died Dec. 25, 1978. He married Florence McBroom, who died Sept. 18, 1987. He then married Margaret Eber, who died May 5, 1997.

He was a mechanic, a welder, a farmer and had various other occupations. He was a member of Akron Lions Club; American Legion Post 36 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1343, both in Rochester; IOOF Odd Fellows Lodge, Delphi; Indiana State Police Auxiliary; and Masonic Lodge, Cutler. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He attended Akron Church of God, where he was an active driver for the bus ministry.

Surviving are a daughter, Corita (and spouse John) Belyea, Grand Bay Westfield, New Brunswick, Canada, and Riverview, Fla.; a son, Karl White, Akron; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Mary Lou (and spouse Charles) Staton, Akron; and a stepson, Philip (and spouse Carolyn) Eber, Ossian. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Kay Marie and Alwilda; two sons, Phillip and George; three brothers; and six sisters.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating, and with military rites by members of the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post 36 and VFW Post 1343, following the service. Burial will be in Crownland Cemetery, Noblesville.

Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
