NORTH MANCHESTER - Paul E. Thomas, 97, formerly of 509 N. Jefferson St., Silver lake, died at 12:10 p.m. Sept. 23, 2009, in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake.

He was born Oct. 14, 1911, in Jackson Township, Kosciusko County, to Joshua Lincoln and Hattie Spiece Thomas. On June 19, 1932, he married Alice Franks, who died Dec. 14, 2003.

A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, he was a farmer, a carpenter and retired from Pike Lumber Co., Akron, in 1977. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, North Manchester, and a 1929 Sidney High School graduate.

Surviving are a son, Odis Thomas, Winnebago, Ill.; a daughter, Evelyn (and spouse Harvey) Badman, Warsaw; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Chaplain Glenn Byers officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
