Paul Dean “PD” Snyder, 82, Claypool, passed away peacefully Jan. 14, 2014, surrounded by his loving family in Kosciusko Community Hospital after his second brave battle with cancer. He was born April 12, 1931, in Luther, to Harry A. and Emma A. Perry Snyder. On Nov. 21, 1954, he married Betty A. Perry Snyder, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 27, 1968, he married Kay L. Adams Walton, who survives. He graduated from Bippus High School in 1949, and served in the U.S. Army from April 1951 in Augsberger, Germany, with an honorable discharge in April 1953. He graduated from the Police Academy in Plainfield and served as a Warsaw city patrolman for nine years. He also worked in construction, as a tree trimmer and was a semi truck driver for 60 years. He was a generous and loving husband, brother, uncle, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. He lived his life to the fullest, enjoyed telling stories and was quite a character. His family was his pride and joy. He loved God and his country and was always willing to help a friend. He was a member of the American Legion Post #49 and the Moose Lodge, both in Warsaw. He was a founding member of the Bull Haulers Association. Surviving are four daughters: Paula (and spouse Tony) Calhoun, Warsaw; Sally (and spouse Jeff) Hufford, Chandler, Ariz.; Tina (and spouse Jay) Harting, Silver Lake; and Sandra “Sam” (and spouse David) Engle, Claypool; one son, James Walton; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Virginia Doenges, South Whitley; Esther Snyder, Winona Lake; and Jo Ann Byers, Warsaw; three brothers: Edward Snyder, Bippus; Richard Snyder, Muskegon, Mich.; John Snyder, Leesburg; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a son, Richard “Rick” Snyder. Services will be later this spring. Burial is in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, in the family plot.
