Paul Clifton Norris, 81, of 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, died at 7:15 p.m. March 25, 2010, in Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake.
He was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Gary, to Lewis and Marion Louise Gale Norris. On June 9, 1951, he married Barbara Alice Marston, who survives.
He was raised at Cedar Lake and was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past five years, moving from Melbourne, Fla. He was a member of Community Cornerstone Church, York, Pa., which was started by his son, Mark Norris. He graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette, receiving a bachelor's and master's degree. He was an electrical engineer and was the director of development at NASA during the Apollo manned space flight program. He also worked for many defense contractors including Jet Propulsion Laboratories on the first unmanned lunar landing; Martin Marietta on the Skylab Project; and last for Northrop Grumman Corp. in Florida on the Joint Star Program used in the first Iraqi War.
Also surviving are four daughters: Cathy (and spouse Edward) Kutch, Richland, Mich.; Susan (and spouse Jeffrey) Kemper, Dover, Pa.; Gayle Trollinger, Bluffton, Ohio; and Barbara (and spouse Jeffrey) Cerny, West Chicago, Ill.; two sons, Paul (and spouse Janice) Norris, Glenwood, Md., and Mark (and spouse Marla) Norris, Warsaw; 14 grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Gale (and spouse Patricia) Norris, Cedar Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jonathan James Norris; and a granddaughter, Angela Jean Norris.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Scott Barger officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
