Patriotism and respect for veterans were common themes among entries in a parade Saturday in Syracuse. The parade was conducted in conjunction with the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall display in Syracuse. Parade units included the Great Lakes Naval Station marching band, Boy Scouts, national guard troops, a pipe band from South Bend and emergency vehicles from Syracuse and surrounding communities. Following the parade, a memorial service was conducted at the site of the Memorial Wall, off Ind. 13 behind Calvary United Methodist Church. Steve Hite, director of the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce, was instrumental in bringing the Memorial Wall to Syracuse. Photo by Gary Gerard, Times-Union
