Lamain Rucker (L), a Menards supervisor in Warsaw, receives an award Thursday from Mike Miner, ombudsman director, Indiana committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. Rucker was recognized for his support of the armed forces by accommodating the needs of employee Jared Walerko, who serves in the Army National Guard. Rucker – who said he gives Walerko time off for weekend drills and occasionally covers his shifts himself, in addition to showing an interest in his military career – went above and beyond the requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Act, according to Miner. ‘I think it’s great what these guys do for our country, they fight for our freedom, and I like to do anything I can do to help them out,’ Rucker said.
