FREEPORT, Ill. – Pastor Lyman F. Erickson, 88, Grace Village, Winona Lake, and formerly of the Baileyville, Ill., area, died May 6, 2015, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born Aug. 28, 1926, to Albin and Winnidell Drake Erickson. He was married to Beulah Case, who preceded him in death. He then married Rosalyn Timblin, who also preceded him in death. He was a pastor of the Baileyville Baptist Church; Maranatha Bible Church, New Kensington, Pa.; Calvary Baptist Church, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Bethel Bible Church, Argyle, Iowa; Aulds Chapel, Monroe, La.; and most recently he preached at Grace Village Assisted Living until August 2014. He also served several years in the Christian Serviceman’s Center Ministry in Norfolk, Va., and San Antonio, Texas. He was a member of the Independent Fundamental Churches of America and The American Legion of Watertown, S.D. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army-Air Force. Surviving are three sons: David Erickson, Baltimore, Md.; John (and spouse Marcia) Erickson, Warsaw; and Tim (and spouse Shelby) Erickson, Mukwonago, Wis.; two stepsons, John (and spouse Betty) Engle, Pennsylvania, and Robert Engle, Long Beach, Calif.; one brother, Robert Erickson, Sioux Falls; one sister, Marilyn Cole, Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren: Jonathan and Joseph Erickson, both of Indiana; Daniel (and spouse Diana) Erickson, Illinois; Abigail Erickson, Matsumoto, Japan; Hailey and Blair Erickson, both of Wisconsin. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, June Crook; and one brother, Larry Erickson. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Baileyville Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Cassel officiating. Burial is in Cranes Grove Cemetery. Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. ***** A memorial has been established in his memory.
