Pastor Howard Max Snively, 88, Pierceton, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 12:03 a.m. Sept. 27, 2015, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home of Fort Wayne. He was born Oct. 28, 1926, in Braddyville, Iowa, to Lorenzo “Ren” Gilbert and Florence Ethel Maxwell Snively. On Oct. 31, 1947, he married Evelyn Marie Snively, who preceded him in death Jan. 28, 2014. They were married for 66 years. He was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 26 years where he was a member of Dutchtown Brethren Church of Warsaw. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Sept. 4, 1944, and served as a seaman first class until his honorable discharge on July 13, 1946. He graduated from Grace College and Seminary in Winona Lake. He was a pastor for several Grace Brethren Churches in Ohio, Washington state, Alaska and Warsaw, retiring in 1988. He was also a Warsaw Community Schools bus driver from 1989-1999. Survivors are: two sons, Dan (and spouse Joan) Snively, Indianapolis, and Michael “Mike” (and spouse Beth) Snively, Warsaw; two daughters, Dianne (and spouse Joseph “Joe”) Lund, Warsaw, and Janice “Jani” (and spouse Ed) Strang, Pierceton; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and his twin brother, Harold Max (and spouse Peggy McBride) Snively, Sun Lakes, Ariz. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Eldon, Oral and Earl Snively; and three sisters, Mae Anderson, Marjorie Bangs and Esther Hamilton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Jack Worth officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 49, VFW 1126 and active members of the Navy Honor Guard.
