INDIANAPOLIS — The Warsaw boys swim team will have two representatives in today’s IHSAA state finals at IUPUI.
Warsaw juniors Jayden Parrett and Spencer Davidson each advanced out of Friday’s prelims and will compete in the consolation heats of their respective races.
The top eight qualifiers from Friday night move on to today’s championship heat, while 9-16 are in the consolation.
For Parrett, he barely missed out on the championship heat, finishing ninth in the 100 back with a time of 51.96, breaking the Warsaw school record of 52.66 set by Brian Thallemer in 2009.
The 51.96 time was also just three-one-hundreths-of-a-second shy of matching Zionsville freshman Tyler Harmon’s time of 51.93, which was good for eighth place and moving on to the championship heat.
Parrett also competed in the 100 free, finishing 25th in 47.97.
In the 100 breast, Davidson finished 15th in 57.30, moving him on to today’s competition.
Parrett and Davidson also teamed up on the 200 medley relay with Zach Taylor and Matt Wildman, finishing 18th in 1:38.20, as well as Josh Miller and Ethan Cook on the 31st-place 400 free relay (3:25.41).
Also from Warsaw, the 200 free relay of J.D. French, Wildman, Hudson Snyder and Cook was 31st in 1:31.73.
Individually, Cook was 34th in the 200 free (1:48.98) and 31st in the 500 free (5:03.92), while Taylor placed 36th in the 200 IM (2:02.94).
Finals begin at 1 p.m. today and can be watched live online at IHSAAtv.org
