Parks Dept. Sets Second Public Meeting For Five-Year Master Plan

Posted
Local residents had the opportunity Feb. 15 to provide input on a five-year master plan for the Warsaw park's department services.

There were four people from the public who showed up at the meeting to learn more about the master plan and provide input.

At its Oct. 26 meeting, the park board approved Pat Brown, Site Scapes Inc., Mishawaka, to conduct a five-year master plan on Warsaw parks.

Advice from the community provided during the February meeting included the parks department partnering with schools to teach students about keeping the environment clean and encouraging people with "green knowledge" to assist the parks system.

Additional suggestions were the parks department partnering with Master Gardeners, promoting lake safety, offering evening programs for families and better educating the public on lake management.

The parks department was complimented on its park maintenance during the February meeting.Another public meeting is being planned for March 15 at 7 p.m. at Center Lake Pavilion to share results from a public survey questionnaire for the five-year master plan.

The master plan is required for the park to apply for grants, assess community needs and park finances.

The last time the master plan was updated was in 1998, covering the years 1998-2002.
