Parks Dept. Offering Summer Programs

The Warsaw Parks & Recreation Department has announced several programs this summer.
Jr. Golf Tour
The department is offering a Parks and Recreation Jr. Golf Tour.
The cost is $10 per week or $35 for all four weeks to participate in this program. The fee includes nine holes of greens fees. Participants will need to bring their own clubs.
There will be two ages groups of 10 to 13 and 14 to 17, with awards given for different skills levels each week, and overall points earned during the tour. There is an 8 a.m. tee time for all courses.
Locations will be June 23 at Rozella, June 30 at Raccoon Run, July 14 at Max Welton, Syracuse, and July 28 at Sycamore, North Manchester.

Kids Corner Is Free For Parents And Kids
Parents and kids, don’t miss out on a free parent-child program for youth ages 3 to 7 every Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Pete Thorn Center.
Each week will feature a different theme for the kids with a program full of activities, crafts stories and more.
The first Kids Corner is Wednesday June 8 and will run through to Aug. 3.
Themes this summer will be: Superheroes, Going to the Zoo, Camping, Things that Go, Making Music, Sharks, Let’s go to the Circus, Crazy Weather and Dragons, Knights and Princesses.
No registration is required to attend or participate.

Free Community Paddle Boarding Offered
The City of Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department is offering free Community Paddle Boarding from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Pike Lake Beach. No registration is required.
An annual waiver and rules sheet must be signed by each participant, which must be signed by parent for anyone under age 18.
Paddle boards are available for community use. Paddle boards are first-come, first served and may be used in timed increments. All equipment and life vests are provided. All participants will be briefed on safety measures prior to paddle boarding. All paddle boarding will be supervised by staff.
Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, sunshine, and Pike Lake while learning to navigate a paddle board, according to a press release from the Parks Department.
The next community paddle dates and times are: June 30, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; July 9, noon to 4 p.m.; July 28, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Aug. 6, noon to 4 p.m.; and Aug. 20, noon to 4 p.m.

Parks Offers Paddle Boarding Clinics
The City of Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department is offering six paddle boarding clinics this summer at Pike Lake Beach.
This program for teenagers and adults (ages 12 and up) will focus on basic balance, coordination and paddling skills while sitting or standing on a light weight, easy-to-maneuver padded surf board.
Clinic fee is $8 per person and includes the board, lifejacket, paddle and a great time, according to a Parks Department press release. A waiver and rules sheet must be signed by each participant, which must be signed by parent for anyone under the age of 18.
Participants must register by 4 p.m. the day before each scheduled clinic, and there is no registration on the day of the event. Interested participants can register in person Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Department office, or call the office at 574-372-9554 if you have any questions.
Clinic dates and times are: June 27, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; July 9, 11 a.m. to noon; July 18, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Aug. 6, 11 a.m. to noon; Aug. 15, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and Aug. 20, 11 a.m. to noon.
