Warsaw Parks & Recreation Department announced today several events happening this weekend.

Concert Series

The Central Park Concert Series at the Central Park Plaza at 7 p.m. Friday will feature Kari Lynch’s traditional country sounds, with a twist. The band will play until 8:30 p.m.

Bring a lawn chair or favorite blanket and enjoy the free concert. Sponsors include Indiana Arts Commission, Kosciusko County Community Foundation, 107.3 WRSW, Willie 103.5 & 1480 News Now!.

The Central Park Plaza is located at 225. E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw.

Community Canoeing

Free Community Canoeing is from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Center Lake Beach (east side of the swimming pier, behind the pavilion). No registration is required.

An annual waiver and rules sheet must be signed by each participant, and must be signed by parent for anyone under age 18.

Canoes are available for community use. Canoes are first-come, first served and may be used in timed increments. All equipment and life vests provided. All participants will be briefed on safety measures prior to canoeing. All canoeing will be supervised by staff.

The next canoeing dates and time are June 19, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; July 10, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and July 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fishing Derby

On Saturday, the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will be kicking off the summer season with its free annual Kids Fishing Derby and Casting Contest.

For this event, the ages range from 3 to 16. Each age will be split up into categories that are fair for this competition (4 and under, 5-8, 9-12 and 13-16).

In addition to the goodie bags for the first 100 kids, there will be some prizes for the first- and second-place winners in each age range, along with great prizes for the first-, second- and third-place finisher in the casting contest. However, the grandest prize will be given to the individual who reels in the largest fish of the day.

Furthermore, this event is catch-and-release only and participants must bring their own pole and bait, neither will be provided.

Touch-A-Truck

Touch-A-Truck, a free event, will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Central Park.

Touch-A-Truck is an opportunity to not only look at, but be inside and explore various types of trucks, and equipment, from various companies and organizations. Some of these trucks include an ambulance, mixer truck, skid loader, backhoe, police SUV, vac truck and more. You can not only enjoy exploring each truck, but have a snack of popcorn at the Warsaw Parks Department Booth.
